At Harrisburg Christian School, we believe students are called to use their gifts in meaningful ways. Our Career and Technical Education program creates opportunities for hands-on learning and real-world skill development within a Christ-centered environment.
Introducing CRAFT
Christian Resources for Applied Faith in the Trades
CRAFT is a developing pathway for students interested in skilled trades and technical careers. Through a partnership with Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC), students will have the opportunity to work toward industry certifications while completing their HCS high school diploma.
The CRAFT program is designed to support students as they grow in both skill and character, helping them think about their future through a biblical worldview. Students will be encouraged to think about topics such as:
- Working with integrity in their chosen field
- Serving others through their skills
- Developing responsibility and professionalism
- Using their gifts in meaningful ways
A Space Designed for Hands-On Learning
Students are introduced to a variety of trade areas through foundational courses and electives in their early high school years. These experiences help students explore interests and begin thinking about potential future directions. Beginning in Fall 2027, HCS plans to offer Basic Construction Skills, an introductory elective open to all high school students.
To support this, HCS is planning a dedicated vo-tech makerspace and classroom addition designed for hands-on instruction and skill development.
Planned features of the program include:
- Exposure to multiple trade pathways in early coursework
- Hands-on learning in lab and makerspace environments
- Guided support in choosing a focus area
- Preparation for continued training through HACC
Dual Enrollment with HACC
Juniors and seniors may have the opportunity to take courses through Harrisburg Area Community College as part of their schedule. Depending on their pathway, students can work toward industry certifications, technical diplomas, or college credit.
Areas of study may include automotive technology, construction and building trades, culinary arts, electrical technology, HVAC and refrigeration, welding, early childhood education, and healthcare pathways.
Course availability will depend on student interest, scheduling, and HACC offerings.
