High School

The high school Bible curriculum is designed to help students mature in their faith as they step out into adulthood. Students will gain a deeper understanding of Christian life, biblical theology, and apologetics, as well as analyze other worldviews and religious beliefs. Courses include:

Throughout the high school curriculum, students will engage in critical analysis of literature, read major works from various cultures, and perfect their writing skills in both formal and creative styles. Students with a particular aptitude for English and Literature may choose from several Dual Enrollment to further challenge their skills. Courses offered include:

• Honors World Literature
• American Literature
• Honors American Literature
• British Literature
• English 12

Courses offered include:

• Spanish I, II
• Honors Spanish III
• Honors Spanish IV

The HCS high school history courses survey World History, American history, and Western Thought. Students’ understanding of history will be deepened through the examination of historical documents, timelines, maps, cultures, politics, passages of Scripture and Biblical values. Courses offered include:

• World History I (emphasis on Asia) and II (emphasis on African, European, and Latin American history)
• American Government
• 20th Century U.S. History/American Government
• Western Civilization

Students have ample opportunity to develop a high level aptitude in mathematics through our high school courses. All students are encouraged to take a fourth year of math, regardless of whether they plan to pursue a career in STEM. Courses offered include:

• Algebra I and II
• Honors Algebra I and II
• Geometry
• Honors Geometry
• Honors Pre-Calculus
• Honors Calculus

As image bearers of a creative God, we encourage all students to develop both an appreciation for the arts and technical skill. The music & art department offers a variety of courses and ensembles, from beginner level to advanced. The performing arts courses include a minimum of two opportunities for concerts or performances throughout the year. As opportunities arise, students may also participate in performances outside the school environment such as field trips and community events. Courses offered include:

The aim of Physical Education classes is to assist the student in developing coordination, physical skills, and mental adaptability. The emphasis is on co-educational activities such as soccer, basketball, football, badminton, and other individual lifetime sports.

Students will explore God's design in creation through higher-level science courses. These courses are designed to encourage logical thinking skills and scientific inquiry from a Christian perspective. Some opportunities are available for formal research and presentation. Courses offered include:

Chapel is a key aspect of our student life at HCS as a community dedicated to living for the glory of God. High school students have their own weekly chapel time to facilitate thoughtful consideration of Christian topics. Chapel includes a devotional based on the theme verse of the year and a time of worship, led by the high school chapel leadership team.

The high school chapel leadership elective is a unique opportunity for students with musical ability to use their gifts to lead the student body in worship. Students who participate in chapel leadership rehearse daily and play at both the middle school and high school chapels.

The new CSAGH Dual Enrollment Program provides students with up to 24 college credits through their attendance at CSAGH and has the potential to save parents up to one year of college expenses.

During J-Term each January, juniors and seniors can participate in a one-week internship of their choice or career-focused classes on or off campus. This is an excellent time for students to consider their God-given callings and gain real-world experience.

We encourage all of our students to be actively involved in the community. In order to facilitate this, we host a variety of nonprofit drives and service days throughout the year. Middle and high school students participate in a Day of Service each spring, fanning out into the greater Harrisburg area to partner with local nonprofits and churches. National Honor Society members are also actively involved in the community and serve with various local organizations. High school students have further internship service opportunities during J-Term each January.
