Leadership

Matt Perdue, Head of School for Harrisburg Christian School, came to HCS with over fifteen years of experience in education. He has served as a middle and high school teacher, coach, and counselor, and has experience as a principal and school director. Before coming to HCS, Matt served as School Director (Head of School) of Dakar Academy, a PK–12 ACSI-accredited Christian school with over three hundred students in Senegal, Africa. Matt holds an M.Ed. in School Counseling and a B.S. in Mass Communication/Media Studies. He has also completed ACSI’s Leadership U Program and holds teaching and instructional leadership certifications. Matt and his wife, Sarah, have four children attending HCS.

 

Jen Garvey, Middle/High School Principal at Harrisburg Christian School, is a proud alumna of HCS. She holds an M.Ed. in School Psychology and Secondary Counseling and a B.S. in Biology from Bucknell University, along with a K–12 Principal Certification from Shippensburg University. Jen previously served as the CSAGH Director of Student Services and School Counselor. Prior to returning to HCS, she had over 28 years of experience in public education as a school psychologist.

Jo Ellen Bechtel, Elementary School Principal at Harrisburg Christian School, has been at HCS for over 20 years, during which time she has taught 4th and 5th grade and served as Assistant Elementary Principal. She also taught at Greenville Christian School and Hilton Head Christian School. Jo Ellen holds a B.S. in Elementary Education from Grace College. Jo Ellen is married to Steve Bechtel, the Athletic Director at HCS.
